Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology (IR) is a sub-specialty of radiology utilizing an integration of clinical and imaging-based procedures to diagnosis and treat various diseases. IR physicians work in every body system.

Over the past several decades, the value of interventional radiology (IR) to medicine has grown tremendously. Many conditions that once required surgery can now be treated using minimally-invasive techniques practiced by interventional radiologists. IR allows the doctor to guide tiny instruments (such as catheters) through blood vessels or the skin directly, to the site of a problem, treating a variety of conditions. These procedures generally have less risk and less pain with shorter recovery time than open surgery.

At Cape Radiology Group, your IR procedure will be performed by Endovascular and Interventional Consultants. They are specialists in targeted treatments using CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, MRI and other diagnostic imaging. For additional questions regarding interventional radiology services, please call (573) 334-6071.
