Compassionate Imaging Care Designed For Children & Families

At Cape Radiology Group, we understand that medical imaging can feel overwhelming for children and parents alike. Our team is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and child-friendly imaging experience focused on comfort, clear communication, and compassionate care every step of the way.

We proudly provide diagnostic imaging services for pediatric patients throughout Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, and Western Kentucky while working closely with parents, guardians, and referring providers to help make each visit as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Preparing For Your Child’s Appointment

To help ensure a smooth imaging experience, pediatric patients scheduled for an MRI exam should complete the MRI Patient Questionnaire before their appointment whenever possible.

The MRI Patient Questionnaire helps our team review important medical history and safety information before the exam. Completing the questionnaire in advance can help streamline the check-in process and ensure your child’s MRI can be performed safely.

Patients scheduled for exams other than MRI typically do not need to complete forms in advance unless otherwise instructed by our team.

Our team is available to help answer questions regarding imaging requirements and scheduling logistics.

MRI Patients & Guardian Information

For pediatric patients scheduled for MRI imaging, completing the MRI Patient Questionnaire before the appointment is especially important.

If a parent or legal guardian will not be present at the MRI appointment, completing the questionnaire in advance may help prevent delays or cancellation of the exam.

Because MRI exams involve strong magnetic fields, our team must review important medical and safety information before imaging can be performed.

Financial Responsibility Authorization

Any patient under 18 must have the Assignment of Benefits form signed by the parent, legal guardian, or financially responsible party.

What Parents & Guardians Should Bring

To help ensure a smooth appointment experience, please bring:

  • Completed MRI Patient Questionnaire (for MRI appointments)
  • Driver’s license or valid photo ID
  • Insurance card(s) or insurance information
  • Physician referral or imaging order if required
  • List of current medications
  • Prior imaging records, if requested
  • Comfort items for younger children, if desired

Helpful Comfort Items

Children may feel more comfortable bringing:

  • A favorite blanket
  • Stuffed animal
  • Headphones or calming items
  • Small toys or comfort objects

Our team strives to create a reassuring environment for children of all ages.

Cape Radiology Group provides a wide range of imaging services for pediatric patients, including:

Diagnostic Imaging

Specialized Imaging

What Families Can Expect During The Visit

Our team explains exams in age-appropriate language to help children understand what to expect.

We prioritize patience, reassurance, and emotional support for both children and caregivers.

Cape Radiology Group follows established pediatric imaging safety protocols designed to minimize radiation exposure whenever possible while maintaining excellent image quality.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to ask questions and remain involved throughout the appointment process whenever appropriate.

Preparing Children For Imaging Exams

Helping children know what to expect can make the imaging experience easier and less stressful.

Parents may wish to:

  • Explain the exam in simple, reassuring language
  • Let children know the procedure is painless
  • Encourage children to remain still during imaging
  • Arrive early to allow time for registration and preparation

MRI exams can be noisy and may require children to remain still for extended periods. Depending on the child’s age and needs, additional preparation instructions may be provided before the appointment.

Our team will discuss any special accommodations or concerns ahead of time whenever possible.
