National Radiologic Technology Week (NRTW®) 2017 will be celebrated Nov. 5-11.
When you’re scheduled for a medical imaging examination or radiation therapy treatment, the person who performs your exam or delivers your treatment is called a radiologic technologist. Registered radiologic technologists (R.T.s) are educated in anatomy, patient positioning, examination techniques, equipment protocol, radiation safety, radiation protection and patient care. They can choose one or more specialties, such as CT, mammography, ultrasound, MRI, or nuclear medicine.
National Radiologic Technology Week® is celebrated annually to recognize the vital work of R.T.s across the nation. This year’s theme is “Positioning To Save Lives”. The celebration takes place each year during the week that includes Nov. 8, the International Day of Radiology. This day commemorates the discovery of the x-ray by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen on Nov. 8, 1895.
The week-long celebration calls attention to the important role medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals’ play in the standard of care and health care safety. Cape Radiology Group wishes to acknowledge the importance of radiologic technologists during this week and throughout the year. We have a great appreciation for their caring attitude and the professionalism they display every day. Their work is essential to the patient’s health care experience and the high standards we place on quality patient care.
