Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology (IR) is a medical specialty, utilizing an innovative integration of clinical and imaging-based diagnosis along with minimally-invasive therapy. These procedures generally have less risk, less pain and shorter recovery time than open surgery. Your procedure will be performed by Endovascular and Interventional Consultants. They are specialists in minimally-invasive, targeted treatments using CT, ultrasound, MRI and other diagnostic imaging. IR allows the doctor to guide tiny instruments (such as catheters) through blood vessels or through the skin directly, to the site of a problem, treating a variety of medical disorders without the complications of surgery.
